Sunderland vs Arsenal Review
Brian Brobbey scored a last-minute equalizer in the 94th minute, helping Sunderland secure a 2-2 draw against Premier League leaders Arsenal and extending their unbeaten home league streak to six games this season. The first opportunity of the match came from an Arsenal set-piece, with Declan Rice’s long-range free-kick easily saved by Robin Roefs. Sunderland’s initial shot came from Wilson Isidor, who missed narrowly from a difficult angle. However, their second attempt was on target, as Arsenal academy graduate Daniel Ballard finished off Nordi Mukiele’s knockdown, ending Arsenal’s impressive streak of eight consecutive clean sheets.

William Saliba missed a great chance to level the score within nine minutes of added time, firing his half-volley over the bar despite having space, as Sunderland held firm until halftime. Arsenal increased the pressure early in the second half by playing more incisive passes. Martín Zubimendi turned and took a shot at Roefs, followed by Bukayo Saka missing a shot wide. However, Saka scored on his next chance, receiving a pass from Mikel Merino and leveling the score with his weaker right foot. Shortly after, Eberechi Eze challenged Roefs with a shot, and Zubimendi also struck the crossbar with a delicate attempt after Roefs had saved Saka’s cross.

The visitors applied relentless pressure, making a second goal almost certain, which Leandro Trossard delivered with a precise shot into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area. However, the story took another turn when Brobbey secured a late equalizer for Sunderland, outpacing the advancing David Raya to score with an acrobatic finish. Roefs then made an impressive save from Riccardo Calafiori’s header, followed by Ballard blocking Merino’s rebound.

Although the visitors extended their unbeaten head-to-head streak to 16 Premier League matches, they missed the opportunity to increase their lead at the top to nine points. Meanwhile, the Black Cats moved up to 4th place after remaining unbeaten for the fourth consecutive game.
